In short
Quick, alert and full of questions, the Page of Swords is a mind that has just discovered how much there is to think about. Upright the Page is “curious”, “talkative”, “energetic” and “mentally restless”. Reversed, that energy spills into “haste”, being “all talk and no action”, and “undelivered promises”.
Upright
On a rise of ground, a young figure holds a sword up in both hands. Clouds pile up behind, the wind tugs at their hair, and a flock of birds crosses the sky. They are facing one way and looking another, as if something has just caught their attention.
As the student and messenger of the suit, this Page learns through the mind. They are “curious” about everything: how things work, why people say what they say, what is being left out. They are “talkative”, testing ideas by saying them aloud, asking one more question, arguing for the fun of it. And they are “energetic” in the way a mind gets when a subject catches fire.
Being “mentally restless” is the cost. The Page’s attention moves as fast as the wind on the card, which makes them alert to news, gossip and danger, but slow to settle. As a person, this may be a student, a young journalist, a teenager with strong opinions, or anyone just starting to think hard about something. As a situation, it can be a message arriving, a piece of information worth checking, or a sharp idea not yet tested against the world.
Reversed
The wind that makes the Page alert can just as easily blow them off course.
Being “talkative” turns into “all talk and no action”: plans described at length and never begun, opinions that run ahead of the facts, a voice in every conversation that never quite commits to anything. The “energetic” Page becomes all “haste”: sending the message before reading it twice, starting three projects in a week, jumping to the most interesting conclusion over the most likely one.
Then there are “undelivered promises”. A messenger who forgets the message, or promises to deliver it and never does, leaves people waiting. This can be gossip passed on carelessly, a commitment made in enthusiasm and dropped when the next thing arrives, or simply a young mind that has not yet learned how much its words weigh. None of this is usually malicious; it is what happens when curiosity outruns follow-through and nobody is keeping count.
Symbolism
Dressed in a maroon tunic, yellow sleeves, yellow leggings and red boots, a young figure stands braced on a grassy rise, legs apart, holding a sword upright in both hands. The body faces right, but the head turns to the left, eyes glancing sideways.
The wind is everywhere. It pulls the Page’s hair back, bends the dark trees on the left, and drives heaped grey clouds across the sky. High up, a flock of small birds flies in loose formation; birds are creatures of the air, like the suit itself.
The ground beneath the Page is uneven, ridged in green and yellow, so the stance has to be braced. In the distance to the right lie blue hills and water. The sword is lifted and ready but not swung: a mind alert to whatever comes next, and not yet acting.
In love and relationships
Conversation and curiosity drive romance under the Page of Swords: flirting through ideas, long talks into the night, wanting to know everything about someone. A new relationship under this card is often still mostly made of messages. It may also be suspicion, such as checking a partner’s phone or asking questions that are really accusations. In the reversal, promises are made and forgotten, or one person talks about the relationship far more than they put into it.
In work and money
Research, writing, journalism, teaching, coding and any role that rewards good questions all belong to this Page. It can mark the start of learning a subject, an internship, or a new job where you are still absorbing everything. It also brings news: an email, a rumour, a piece of feedback worth thinking about. Its reversal is the colleague who announces ambitious plans in every meeting and has delivered none of them by the next.
In a reading
Ask the next question, then check the answer before passing it on. From the past, the Page may bring back a time of learning or a message that started something; right now, a restless curiosity worth following; further on, news or an idea on its way. When it stands for the challenge, words are running ahead of deeds.

Questions
What does the Page of Swords mean as a person?
Someone sharp, curious and talkative, often young or new to something, who asks lots of questions and notices more than they let on. At their best they are quick learners and honest messengers; at their worst, gossips, or people who promise much and deliver little.
What does the Page of Swords mean for feelings?
Interest that is mostly mental: fascination, curiosity, a wish to talk and understand. The feelings are real but not yet settled, and they may change as quickly as the wind on the card.
