Tarot card meanings

Every tarot card has two faces: what it says when it lands upright, and what it says when it lands reversed. These pages set out both for all 78 cards of the Rider–Waite–Smith deck, with what is drawn on each one and how to read it in love, in work and in a spread.

The deck falls into two parts. The 22 cards of the Major Arcana are the big archetypes, the turning points and lessons that give a reading its weight. The 56 cards of the Minor Arcana are everyday life, in four suits: Cups for feeling, Pentacles for work and money, Swords for thought and conflict, and Wands for energy and drive. Each suit runs from Ace to Ten, then Page, Knight, Queen and King. Choose a card below, or start with the one in front of you.
